Our company charity for 2009 is Volunteer Reading Help. This fab charity inspires children to become confident and literate for life through the sustained support of trained volunteers. Their vision is a nation of confident children, literate for life.
Throughout 2009 we will be raffling, selling, cajoling, walking, marathon-running, partying, beard-wearing and ten tors walking to enable:
- boxes of carefully selected books and games to encourage even the most disengaged of children
- fund the recruitment, training and support of a volunteer reading helper for a year
- help support children in residential care
- new work in extended schools. e.g. breakfast and after-school clubs
- provide literacy training for parents in disadvantaged communities
